The Four Hard Edges of War is Andre de Korvin’s brilliant book length poem exploring pre and post World War II. In his “The Four Hard Edges of War explores the shattered mirror. It starts at the outer edges, which are light years away from the impact point. Then it moves inward where economic and social dislocation permeate our lives. Moving closer we can see no further than a lifetime. At the center lies the instant when we walked away with pieces of the mirror in our heart.

The day clocks spoke russian
The day clocks spoke Russian, broken glass littered the streets accurately reflecting a shattered world and stocks were going up and down like heartbeats of a terminally ill patient. That day, I sat down to write a poem. On the other side of the poem, I saw my father jotting down another stanza. A rose was blooming on the tip of his pen.
Dreaming indigo time
Remember your lost home. Lying on your back
watch clouds shape faces you once knew and
leaves missing you by inches, whisper in your ear
premonitions of war in Autumn’s broken Latin.
